Why are kitchens remodels so expensive?

Even though here at Mauro's interiors, we pride ourselves in offering competitive prices, the truth is that kitchens are not cheap! We wouldn't dream of charging what our competitors charge at places like Home Depot or Lowe's, where they claim minor remodels cost around $24,000 (re-using old cabinets), a major remodel $69,000, and an upscale remodel $136,000 on average. Read the article here

But why? Why are kitchen remodels so expensive?

To the untrained eye, a kitchen is a simple series of cabinets crowned with a slab of rock. In reality, this couldn't be further from the truth. Did you know, on average, there are more than 10 parties involved to bring your kitchen together and that they all have to be orchestrated to deliver the product on time? Furthermore, as your kitchen remodeling company, we take responsibility for all of their work and guarantee it. This is why we work with only our established partners and the best in south Florida.

Here are 5 reasons why.

1.The doors: This is a whole different animal. In fact, the doors are made in another facility with an entirely different set of specialty equipment and machinery that ensure a proper finish. This equipment includes large heavy-duty hydraulic presses that apply heat to adhere materials together, costly large capacity CNC machines, and a lot more specialized equipment that process the raw material to the final product.

2.The rock: Even though the slabs of quartz, quartzite, marble, or granite are among the more expensive parts of a kitchen, here in South Florida, it is cheaper than most places across the US due to the number of suppliers and installers. This video is all that you need to see to understand its value. I'm sure you can imagine the rest.

3.transportation and handling: Italian quartz, Brazilian pine, Austrian hinges, your kitchen is international! From the port of Miami to the distributors, to the showrooms, to the warehouses where they are fitted, cut, and processed, to your home! what a journey! to add the logistics, it takes special vehicles to transport the hard but brittle and delicate materials. Your kitchen travels all over the world and all over the city to meet in your house for happy hour.

4.Labor cost: Your materials are worthless without execution. Execution is what brings everything together. It takes years of trial and error to become a pro and to be able to guarantee your work and the work of others. There are kitchen designers, electricians, plumbers, floor installers, painters, cabinet makers, cabinet installers, countertop installers in some of the more extensive projects architects, engineers, and electrical engineers. Just think about the amount of labor it takes to turn sheets of plywood and quartzite into something like this.

5. The add-ons: The difference between drawers gliding effortlessly and closing as if there was an invisible cushion stopping it at the last second before they slam or having them SLAM. This is what you pay for, for technology that gives your kitchen that magic feel. You pay for utility, a pantry where you don't have to dive headfirst to get the oats from the back because the pantry shelves pull out. Here's a list of things that you don't consider but make a considerable difference price-wise.
